Position Overview
Alter-Learning is seeking a creative and passionate Narrative & World-Building Designer to help shape the stories, characters, settings, and lore for our upcoming Animation TV Series based on the Alter-Learning educational universe. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the creation of engaging worlds that inspire curiosity, creativity, and learning for children and young audiences.
The ideal candidate is passionate about storytelling, world-building, animation, and transmedia entertainment. You will collaborate with writers, concept artists, animators, game designers, and educators to develop compelling narratives that seamlessly connect our animated series with Alter-Learning’s AI-powered educational games and learning platform.
Responsibilities
- Develop engaging storylines, character arcs, and episode concepts for the Alter-Learning Animation TV Series.
- Create detailed world-building documentation, including locations, cultures, history, technology, and lore.
- Design compelling fictional universes that support long-term storytelling across animation, games, and educational content.
- Collaborate with writers, storyboard artists, concept artists, animators, and game developers to ensure narrative consistency.
- Develop character biographies, relationships, dialogue, and personality profiles.
- Create story bibles, lore guides, and narrative documentation for production teams.
- Participate in brainstorming sessions and creative workshops to generate new ideas and expand the Alter-Learning universe.
- Ensure that stories align with Alter-Learning’s educational mission while remaining entertaining and emotionally engaging.
- Incorporate educational themes, STEAM concepts, and age-appropriate learning opportunities into story development where appropriate.
- Revise narratives based on creative feedback and production requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Strong passion for storytelling, world-building, animation, fantasy, science fiction, or educational entertainment.
- Experience writing stories, scripts, world-building documents, game narratives, novels, comics, or similar creative projects.
- Excellent creative writing and communication skills.
- Ability to develop cohesive fictional worlds with rich lore and memorable characters.
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary creative teams.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment.
- Professional-level English proficiency.
Desired Skills
- Experience writing for animated television, streaming productions, games, comics, or children’s media.
- Understanding of story structure, character development, pacing, and episodic storytelling.
- Familiarity with screenplay or scriptwriting formats.
- Knowledge of educational storytelling and children’s content.
- Experience working with transmedia storytelling across games, animation, books, or interactive media.
- Passion for AI, educational technology, gaming, and innovative learning experiences.
- Portfolio including scripts, story bibles, narrative design documents, creative writing samples, or published work.
