Job Summary/Objective
Alter-Learning Inc is seeking a highly skilled and creative FX Artist to join our remote team. As an FX Artist, you will be responsible for creating visually captivating and immersive special effects for our educational gaming projects.
Responsibilities
- Develop visually stunning and high-quality special effects to create a particular impression or illusion for our educational games.
- Utilize industry-standard 3D packages such as Maya, Blender, or Houdini, to create and implement special effects into the game engine.
- Collaborate closely with the Art Department and other departments to understand the project’s creative vision and ensure the FX aligns with the desired aesthetic and mood.
- Collaborate with the Art Department and other departments to address any technical issues related to FX creation and ensure functionality and performance.
- Provide support and documentation for the Art Department and other departments regarding FX implementation and technical processes.
- Meet project deadlines and milestones, managing time effectively to prioritize and complete tasks promptly.
- Stay updated with industry trends and new technologies related to special effects and contribute innovative ideas to enhance the visual impact of our games.
Qualifications
- A strong portfolio showcasing your expertise with particle systems, fluid dynamics, rigid body dynamics, and procedural systems for games or other related projects.
- Proven track record creating effects such as smoke, fire, clouds, water, steam, explosions, magic, etc.
- Proficiency in industry-standard 3D packages such as Maya, Blender, Houdini, Unity or Unreal Engine.
- Familiarity with game engines such as Unity or Unreal Engine.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative, as well as collaborate effectively in a team environment.
- Excellent communication skills with a professional working level of English, both written and verbal.
- Strong understanding of art principles, technical art pipelines, and game development best practices.
- Ability to meet project deadlines under tight schedules and manage time effectively.
