Job Summary/Objective:
Alter-Learning Inc is seeking a highly skilled and creative Remote 3D Character/Creature Artist to join our team. As a 3D Character/Creature Artist, you will be responsible for creating stunning and immersive character and creature models for our educational gaming projects.
Responsibilities:
- Develop visually appealing and high-quality 3D character and creature models for educational gaming projects.
- Utilize 3D packages such as Maya, Blender, and zBrush to create detailed and realistic character and creature assets.
- Apply texturing skills using Substance Painter or similar software to produce realistic and visually engaging textures.
- Collaborate with the art team to ensure the alignment of character and creature assets with project requirements and visual style.
- Optimize models and assets for game performance, adhering to polycount guidelines and asset optimization techniques.
- Utilize high-poly to low-poly baking workflows for optimized asset creation.
- Communicate effectively with team members, providing progress updates, seeking feedback, and incorporating art direction into your work.
- Meet project deadlines and milestones, managing time effectively to prioritize and complete tasks promptly.
- Stay updated with industry trends and new technologies related to character and creature modeling and contribute innovative ideas to enhance the visual impact of our games.
Qualifications:
- A strong portfolio demonstrating your skills in creating high-quality 3D Characters/Creatures
- Proficiency in 2D/3D packages such as Maya, Blender, Photoshop, and ZBrush.
- Experience with 3D painting software like Substance Painter.
- Rigging and/or Animation knowledge a plus (not required)
- Experienced with game engines such as Unreal or Unity
- Strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail.
- Self-motivated with an ability to take initiative and work independently.
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Strong communication skills with a professional working level of English, both written and verbal.
- Willingness to receive direction from the Art Director and Lead Artist
- Strong grasp of art principles and game development pipelines and practices
- Ability to meet deadlines under tight schedules
- Effective communication skills to provide progress updates and seek clarification when needed.
