Position Overview
AAK Tele-Science is seeking a skilled Python Backend Developer with experience in Django and FastAPI to join our development team. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in Python backend development, with experience building, maintaining, and integrating web applications and APIs. Strong teamwork experience and the ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary and distributed team are essential for this role.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain backend applications and services using Python, Django, and FastAPI.
- Design, build, and maintain RESTful APIs to support platform functionality and integrations.
- Collaborate with frontend developers, designers, project managers, and other team members to translate technical and business requirements into functional solutions.
- Develop and maintain database models, application logic, authentication systems, and backend services.
- Integrate third-party APIs and external services into the AAK Tele-Science platform.
- Debug and troubleshoot backend functionality, API integrations, database interactions, and performance issues.
- Optimize backend services for performance, reliability, security, and scalability.
- Write clean, maintainable, documented, and reusable Python code.
- Participate in regular team meetings and contribute to technical planning and project execution.
- Review code and provide constructive feedback to other development team members.
- Contribute to the overall development lifecycle, from technical planning and implementation through testing, deployment, and maintenance.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience with Python backend development.
- Strong experience working with Django and its core architecture.
- Experience developing APIs and backend services using FastAPI.
- Strong understanding of RESTful API design and web application architecture.
- Experience working with relational databases and SQL.
- Understanding of authentication, authorization, data validation, and backend security practices.
- Familiarity with version control systems such as Git and collaborative development workflows.
- Ability to write efficient, maintainable, and scalable backend code.
- Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working collaboratively within a development team, with effective communication and teamwork skills.
Desired Skills
- Experience with PostgreSQL and/or MySQL.
- Experience with Docker and containerized development environments.
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and application deployment.
- Experience with asynchronous Python and asynchronous API development.
- Knowledge of automated testing and CI/CD workflows.
- Experience integrating third-party APIs, services, and external platforms.
- Understanding of application security and secure API development practices.
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
- Experience working within a startup or fast-paced technology environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
- GitHub profile, portfolio, or examples of previous Python, Django, or FastAPI projects.

Compensation
Consultant shall be paid an hourly rate starting from $45 per hour and such compensation shall be under form of (ISO) and or (NSO) Incentive Stock options issued by the company, based on the agreement between the company and consultant.
