Role Overview
The Accounting Manager will be responsible for managing the daily accounting operations, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and providing accurate, timely financial reports to support decision-making. You will work closely with executive leadership to align accounting practices with Alter-Learning’s strategic goals and contribute to financial planning and process improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and reconciliations.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with US GAAP or IFRS standards.
- Maintain accurate records of financial transactions and ensure timely month-end and year-end closings.
- Support the budgeting and forecasting process with financial analysis and insights.
- Ensure compliance with tax, audit, and reporting requirements.
- Develop and implement internal controls, policies, and accounting procedures to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Collaborate with leadership on cost management, financial projections, and business planning.
- Assist in system integration, automation, and optimization of financial workflows.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or equivalent certification preferred).
- 3+ years of experience in accounting or financial management, preferably in a tech, EdTech, or startup environment.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and compliance standards.
- Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, or NetSuite).
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a proactive and solution-oriented mindset.
