Accounting Manager

Position Overview

Role Overview

The Accounting Manager will be responsible for managing the daily accounting operations, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and providing accurate, timely financial reports to support decision-making. You will work closely with executive leadership to align accounting practices with Alter-Learning’s strategic goals and contribute to financial planning and process improvement.


Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and reconciliations.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with US GAAP or IFRS standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of financial transactions and ensure timely month-end and year-end closings.
  • Support the budgeting and forecasting process with financial analysis and insights.
  • Ensure compliance with tax, audit, and reporting requirements.
  • Develop and implement internal controls, policies, and accounting procedures to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with leadership on cost management, financial projections, and business planning.
  • Assist in system integration, automation, and optimization of financial workflows.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or equivalent certification preferred).
  • 3+ years of experience in accounting or financial management, preferably in a tech, EdTech, or startup environment.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and compliance standards.
  • Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, or NetSuite).
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a proactive and solution-oriented mindset.
