Position Overview
Alter Learning is seeking a talented and versatile Music Teacher or Music Creator to join our team. This role requires expertise in teaching music and musical instruments, with a strong passion for integrating music into educational games. The ideal candidate will have experience in music education, an understanding of various musical instruments, and a willingness to contribute to the development of digital music content for our interactive games.
Responsibilities
- Teach and provide guidance on various musical instruments, including but not limited to piano, guitar, drums, and wind instruments.
- Collaborate with the development team to integrate music concepts and instruments into educational games and interactive content.
- Create and review digital music elements to enhance the gaming experience, ensuring they align with the educational goals of our projects.
- Assist in developing educational materials and resources related to music, including lesson plans and instructional guides.
- Participate in playtesting sessions to evaluate the impact and effectiveness of musical elements in our games.
- Offer insights and recommendations on how to improve the integration of music and musical education within game design.
- Support various other areas as needed, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to contribute beyond primary responsibilities.
Required Qualifications
- Certified music teacher with expertise in teaching various musical instruments.
- Strong understanding of music theory, instrument techniques, and pedagogical approaches to music education.
- Experience in teaching music to students of different ages and skill levels.
- Enjoyment of games, both development and playing, with a minimal interest or knowledge in gaming preferred.
- Ability to assist with other educational areas beyond music.
Desired Skills
- Experience in creating digital music or soundscapes for interactive media or games.
- Proficiency with digital audio workstations (DAWs) and music production software.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
- Creativity in applying musical concepts to enhance the educational value and engagement of our games.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with educational game development or interactive media.
- Familiarity with STEAM education principles and practices.
- Previous involvement in projects that integrate music education into digital content or games.
