Position Overview
Alter Learning is seeking talented and creative Level Designers with strong Unity knowledge to join our team. As a Level Designer at Alter Learning, you will play a crucial role in developing engaging and educational games that align with our mission to revolutionize the learning experience.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop scenes for 3D or 2D educational games using Unity.
- Help create and maintain detailed documentation, including level design layouts, asset lists and UI elements.
- Work closely with developers, artists and game designers to bring game concepts to life, ensuring a seamless integration of design and technical elements.
- Optimize games for performance across various platforms, including PC, MAC-OS, and mobile devices.
- Conduct playtesting sessions and provide feedback to iterate and refine game features.
Required hard skills
- Proficiency in Unity, with a portfolio showcasing your experience in level design and development.
- Strong in-engine organization mentality, keeping assets ordered and properly named following industry conventions
- Solid understanding of general game design principles, including gameplay mechanics, level design, and user experience.
- Basic experience in scripting within Unity (C# preferred) to help implement or review game mechanics.
- Knowledge of 3D or 2D game development workflows and tools.
- Familiarity with UI/UX design principles
- Experience in optimizing games for different platforms and devices.
Required soft skills
- Creativity and innovation in designing engaging and appealing environments.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
- Ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Game Design, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience in educational game development or a strong interest in the field.
- Knowledge of 2D or 3D software editors
- Knowledge of Agile development methodologies and experience working in an Agile environment.
- Experience with game production tools such as Trello, Jira, or similar workflow management software.
